How to Use the Site

Name Description
Access Some parts of the portal are open access, and some parts require you to register and login to be able to use it fully. Your registration will need to be validated by a site moderator. You won't be able to see all the functions of the portal until you login
Registration
  • To register, find the REGISTER tab on the home page
  • Fill in the registration form and click 'submit'
  • You will receive an email to your nominated email address confirming your registration has been submitted for validation. Registrations will be validated within 24 hours
  • Once validated you will get an email confirming your successful registration. You will then have full access to the portal
Login
  • Click on the "LOGIN" button
  • Enter your credentials from the registration process
  • Login
  • Your name will show up at the top right hand corner of the page, with the 'Logout' button showing
Update your profile
  • Hover over your name in the top right hand corner of the screen to show your 'member menu'
  • Select "View Profile" from the list, fill in your profile, including a profile picture if you want one, and privacy settings
Portal Member Pages

Forums

  • Click on the ENGAGE menu at the top of the page - navigate to the 'Forums' menu item under 'Engage' and select it
  • You will see a list of existing Forums with the following buttons (colored):
    • View Topics
    • View Posts
    • View Files
  • The buttons are available at the top and bottom of the forum topics content for ease of access either from the beginning or end of the excerpt
  • Use the categorization menu on the left hand sidebar to filter through the various forum topic categories
  • For instructions on how to create a forum, hover over your name in the top right corner and follow the instructions in the drop down menu. Once you have clicked on Create a Forum Topic, you can follow the instructions on the forum page

Blogs

  • You can access the blogs by clicking on the BLOGS tab on the homepage, or clicking on any of the blogs in the list you see as you scroll down the homepage
  • You can also click on the BLOGS menu item under the Engage Top Level Menu. Select any of the blogs by either clicking on the title under the image, or by clicking the 'read more' link at the end of the excerpt
  • To create a blog, hover over your name in the top right corner and follow the instructions in the drop down menu. Once you have clicked on Write a Blog, you can follow the instructions on the blog page

Framework

  • Under the FRAMEWORK top level menu - click on any of the categorized pages within the framework and it will come up with the following:
    • A brief description of how the information in the 'Framework' section needs to be populated by the dementia community
    • CONTRIBUTE button
    • Setting up a discussion group instruction with link
