National Dementia Action Plan Community Forum

The NZ Dementia Foundation, Alzheimers NZ, and Dementia NZ are working in partnership to lead the development of a first national Dementia Action Plan.

The goal is to clarify the objectives and identify the areas that are priorities for action. The draft Action Plan has been distributed to the sector for feedback. It is now being re-drafted and will be formally presented to Ministers for their consideration in mid 2020.

Keep up to date and share your views in the Dementia Action Plan community forum here. Subscribe to the discussion to be automatically alerted of updates.

What can I have to say? Having a bad memory is not the best feat someone can have. To check how bad my memory is, I like to do an online cognitive test so I can see where it is lacking. Tho it can not always be right, it kinda shows what areas you truly need to improve on. So, after a small test like that, it is only natural to check out training for better memory. Or even to search for a medicine that will help out. So both ways are practical. There is enough evidence to show so. Nonetheless, it's your choice in the end, what practical use suits you better.

It`s very important that such a problem be talked about. Watching my grandmother, I sadly realize how full and happy her life would be right now if not the progression of dementia. The doctor explained to us that dementia is reversible in only 5% of cases. In the other 95%, the brain deteriorates at different rates: first it stops storing new impressions and events, then it erases the old ones. My mother and I decided that we can't do without additional help, so we turned to thekey.com for care. We live far away from each other, so such support is essential for us cause my granny can't be alone anymore.
